We are delighted to share the news of Ettore Botticini‘s remarkable achievement.
As a talented athlete from the competitive team at Circolo Nautico e della Vela Argentario, Ettore has secured the first position for the second year in a row at the prestigious Foiling Week Waszp event, which has been recognized as a “Special Event” by World Sailing.

The sailing competition in Malcesine on Lake Garda, Italy had sixty participants from across Europe. It consisted of twelve races held in predominantly medium-light wind conditions.
Ettore’s win is a testament to his exceptional athletic abilities and is truly impressive.

Ettore shares his experience of achieving a significant victory and explains his strategy, “From the very beginning, I faced a challenge at the tactical level when it came out a disqualification (UFD) in a trial I had won. So, having already lost my discard on day one, I realized that I could not afford any further errors. However, I also knew that I couldn’t be too conservative in my approach. Therefore, I decided to take a risk, and it paid off. Surprisingly, I even discovered new achievements that I thought I could not overcome with the Waszp”.

The skill and coolness shown by Ettore on the last day of the competition were truly remarkable. He took three wins out of four trials, leaving no hope for the French athlete H. Gruet who finished in second place. Experienced Italian Waszp class sailor Emanuele Savoini secured third place.

Ettore’s next Waszp event will be the European Class Championship at the end of July in Quiberon, Atlantic France, with 140 boats already registered.

But before that, he will be participating in the renowned AEGEAN 600 regatta on the new full-racer NEO 58 ”Carbonita”. The Greek race spans about 600 miles of nonstop racing in the midst of the Meltemi-swept Greek islands.
