FARR 85

Boarding the ROMA, one is immediately struck by a sense of rigour and essential elegance.
This 85-ft maxi is the result of collaboration among a pool of great experts: Bruce Farr, who designed the hull, the Lazzarini and Pickering studio, responsible for the exterior and interior styling, and the Cantiere Roma – Latini Marine, where she was crafted using the most advanced carbon lamination techniques.

ROMA is a distinctive sailing yacht. She offers superb performance, an ultramodern exterior and interior, and ease of navigation thanks to the APM lifting keel and linear deck layout.
Inspired by innovative design and engineering, ROMA surprises with choices that may seem extreme yet ultimately redefine the concepts of racer and cruiser, blurring the line between the two.
The single-piece carbon Southern Spar mast with two swept-back spreaders ensures good racing ratings and straightforward cruising.
A powerful performer in racing configuration, she excels at delivering a fast and comfortable sailing experience in her cruising configuration, featuring an interior layout with four comfortable guest cabins and separate crew quarters with their own access from the cockpit, as well as a separate crew mess.

The absence of traditional teak on the deck accentuates the design’s sharpness and highlights the flush deck. Concealed manoeuvres and spacious sunbathing areas reflect Roma’s cruising aspect, much like the comfortable guest cockpit, which can be adapted for regattas with coffee grinders and appropriate racing equipment.

Below deck, one can better appreciate the design work of the Lazzarini & Pickering studio, whose luxury is attained through attention to detail and the use of lightweight materials.
The skilful carbon workmanship also used in the construction of the bulkheads imparts a sense of lightness to the entire environment.

ROMA’s interior is entirely white, a choice that imparts a sense of severity alongside her statuesque distinctiveness. The interplay of volumes is well-studied thanks to structures that are never fully close to the floor, always creating a space that elevates them above the ground.

The intensity of the white required careful study for the interior lighting, which is achieved through three distinct systems. Centrally located and spanning the length of the space, a ”barrisol” ceiling conceals fluorescent lights; the sides feature carbon panels fitted with dichroic lighting, while mini LEDs provide light points under the furniture. These three systems can be blended and dimmed throughout the boat, allowing for various scenarios tailored to the guests’ preferences and desired ambience.

The guest area offers comfortable accommodation for up to eight guests in four cabins, with the owner suite forward. All cabins feature en-suite bathrooms.

The crew quarters are at the stern, accessible from the steering cockpit or from inside via the pass-through galley. The area is well organized for four crew members across two cabins and includes the navigation and chart table.
